The First 2017 Fukushima Research Conference (FRC).

Research Conference on Cementitious Composites in Decommissioning and Waste Management (RCWM2017) was held.

 The Collaborative Laboratories for Advanced Decommissioning Science (CLADS), Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), held the first FY2017 Fukushima Research Conference entitled “Research Conference on Cementitious Composites in Decommissioning and Waste Management (RCWM2017)” on June 20 and 21, 2017 at the “Manabi-no-Mori” in Tomioka Town, Futaba County, Fukushima Prefecture. The objectives of the conference was to exchange opinions about latest knowledge focusing on cementitious composites that are widely used in decommissioning and waste management in order to promote the research on decommissioning from now on.

 On the first day, the conference was open to the public and press, and about 100 people participated. At the beginning of the conference, Emeritus Professor Seichi Sato of Hokkaido University, the Chief of the Planning Committee of this conference, made an opening remarks. Then, Mr. Takashi Ashida, Division Head of CLADS presented a lecture on “Feedback to R&D plan from this conference”, and Mr. Eiichiro Ito, Group Manager of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc. talked about “Waste management at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station”. After that, the lectures and discussion were held in two sessions; “Research activities in each country” and “Research activities in universities”.
